Human trafficking awareness training approved for CDL holders

Starting July 1, all new CDL applicants will be required to complete the training before receiving their license. Current CDL holders must complete the training before the next regular renewal of their licenses through the Kansas Department of Revenue (KDOR). KDOR will include information about the new requirement in postcard renewal notices that are routinely sent to current CDL holders when their licenses are due for renewal.

AG Derek Schmidt: Consumer Protection Division recovers record $61 million in 2017

The attorney general’s Consumer Protection Division recovered a record $61 million for consumers and taxpayers last year, Kansas Attorney General Derek Schmidt announced.

In its annual report filed today with the governor and legislature, Schmidt’s office reported nearly $61.9 million in savings and recoveries to Kansas consumers and the state treasury in calendar year 2017. During Schmidt’s administration, the division has recovered a total of more than $208 million, by far the most in state history.

AG Derek Schmidt, statewide partners announce new public awareness effort targeting buyers of sex

Kansas Attorney General Derek Schmidt has announced a new statewide public awareness campaign targeting the demand for commercial sex in Kansas.

Schmidt and representatives from partnering organizations across the state held a news conference announcing the Demand an End initiative. The initial partners include more than 60 representatives from law enforcement, state government and organizations that serve human trafficking victims in Kansas.

AG Derek Schmidt completes term as president of National Association of Attorneys General

Kansas Attorney General Derek Schmidt recently completed his one-year term as president of the National Association of Attorneys General (NAAG).

At the organization’s summer meeting, Schmidt concluded his yearlong leadership of the association and, with it, his presidential initiative, “Protecting America’s Seniors: Attorneys General United Against Elder Abuse.”
